The Real Neat Blog Award II

๐ŸŒธ The Real Neat Blog Award I

It’s no surprise that Emer from A Little Haze Book Blog has nominated me for this award! This is the second time I’ve been nominated by Emer and if you haven’t seen her blog yet, definitely check it out! She has some great articles and she’s such a caring friend.

๐ŸŒธ The Origins of the Real Neat Blog Award ๐ŸŒธ

Before I answer the questions I did a little googling to try and find the origins of this award and the earliest reference I can find to it goes all the way back to 2014 and to a blog called Dear Kitty, Some Blog.

The award came about as a way to highlight bloggers that need more attention because of their awesome content on their blogs and the first logo ever created for the award is this one that I found on the same Dear Kitty, Some Blog page:

๐ŸŒธ The Rules ๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒธ Display the Award Logo.

๐ŸŒธ Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.

๐ŸŒธ Answer the questions of the one who nominated you.

๐ŸŒธ Nominate some bloggers.

๐ŸŒธ Ask them seven questions.

๐ŸŒธ Questions from Emer ๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒธ Time for some self love. What is your favourite thing about yourself?

I could say a few things, but I think the biggest thing that I love about myself would be my empathy and sympathy. I don’t often talk about, but if you’ve been following me or this blog for a while then you probably picked up on a few things. My life hasn’t been an easy one and I learn just how cruel life can be at a very young age, younger than I should have been to learn about these things. If a friend were to come to me with a problem or they’re distress, or perhaps something traumatic happened to them, I would have a very deep understanding. Nothing really surprises me anymore because I have so much terrible experience, but those experiences have allowed me to help friends and understand what they’re going through on a much deeper level. It’s those experiences that have crafted me into being loyal to my friends, making them my ride or die, and defending them if they need it. I often don’t acknowledge the level of my sympathy and empathy, but it deserves the credit where it’s due.

๐ŸŒธ Itโ€™s late. Youโ€™ve had a crazy long day and you are super hungry. What is your go to quick meal?

๐ŸŒธ List the best five books that you have read in the last 12 months.

๐Ÿ“– Soul of the Sword (Shadow of the Fox #2) by Julie Kagawa

๐Ÿ“– Leo Loves Aries (Signs of Love, #1) by Anyta Sunday

๐Ÿ“– The Adventure Zone: Murder on the Rockport Limited! by Clint McElroy

๐Ÿ“– Down Among the Sticks and Bones (Wayward Children #2) by Seanan McGuire

๐Ÿ“– Where Dreams Descend (Kingdom of Cards #1) by Janella Angeles

๐ŸŒธ Would you rather be an oak tree or a butterfly?

๐ŸŒธ What book have you reread more than any other, or if you do not reread then why is that?

๐Ÿ“– The Next Always (InnBoonsBoro Trilogy #1) by Nora Roberts

๐Ÿ“– The Last Boyfriend (InnBoonsBoro Trilogy #2) by Nora Roberts

๐Ÿ“– The Perfect Hope (InnBoonsBoro Trilogy #3) by Nora Roberts

I reread these three books whenever I miss my family, my hometown, and when I just need to be reminded of a sense of love and community.

๐ŸŒธ If you were a kitchen appliance which one would you be? I am a kettle for sure, always getting boiled up about somethingโ€ฆ

I’m probably the favorite mug that someone always uses. I know that sounds weird or even bad, but hear me out. Coming home to your favorite mug filled with your favorite drink, always there when you need it, comforting you when the stress is too much… I am the favorite mug in your cupboard or sitting on your mug rack.

๐ŸŒธ Would you rather win an Oscar (award for acting) or a Grammy (award for music)?

Oh jeez, this is hard. Music would be the obvious one, but the problem with that is it’s something that would expected of me. I already have a binder full of awards for being a singer. Honestly, I would love to win an award for acting. I’ve only done drama a few times which strangely enough I was always playing a dragon, but I would love to win an award for acting.

And those are all the questions Emer had in store for me! Dang, some of them were hard! Once again, if you haven’t checked pout Emer’s blog, go give her some love. She is a wonderful, caring friend who puts out great content.

Next up I am going to tag some blogs to receive this award:

๐ŸŒธ Kayla from Books and Blends

๐ŸŒธ Ren from A Bookish Balance

๐ŸŒธ Lauren from Lala’s Book Reviews

๐ŸŒธ Robin from Paperbacks and Planners

๐ŸŒธ Destiny from Howling Libraries

๐ŸŒธ Marie from Drizzle & Hurricane Books

๐ŸŒธ Sue from BeautyBookCorner

Itโ€™s okay if tags and awards arenโ€™t your thing. No one should feel obligated to do this tag unless they want to.

๐ŸŒธ My Seven Questions ๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒธ What’s one book that you can relate to the most and why?

๐ŸŒธ Aside from reading, what’s you’re favorite activity to do in self-isolation?

๐ŸŒธ You just inherited a house, you have one room left to remodel into the dream library. Describe what your dream library looks like and what the crown jewel of this library is.

๐ŸŒธ Besides being a collector of books, what are some of the other things you collect?

๐ŸŒธ Real talk, what’s one topic that you’ve been wanting to discuss on your blog, but haven’t and why?

๐ŸŒธ What are the top five books you’re planning to buy from your local bookstore this year?

๐ŸŒธ Feel good time! What are five songs that have been keeping your spirits high?

Okay, friends! I think that covers everything thing! I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about me. I hope the ones who’ve been tagged end up participating, but if not, check out their blogs anyway. They all offer some amazing content and it never hurts to follow more diverse bloggers. Until next time, may your tbr be large, you continue to stay safe and healthy, I love you! ๐Ÿ’•

The Mystery Blogger Award II

Salutations once again! I recently got nominated for a second time for The Mystery Blogger Award by the one and only Emer at A Little Haze Book Blog! You can find my first article for this award right HERE as the questions and answers will be different this time around! I say this all the time, but let me tell you all again, Emer is one of my lovely friends, fellow blogger, and just a beautiful ray of light in the book community! Emer has amazing articles on her blog that are fun like The Bedtime Book Tag and more serious topics/discussions like The Relationship Between Reviewer and Author, either way I adore Emer with my whole heart and soul so please make sure you check out her blog!

โ„๏ธ What is The Mystery Blogger Award? โ„๏ธ

They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

Also, a huge thanks to Okoto from Okoto Enigmaโ€™s Blog for creating this award to bring light to wonderful bloggers!

โ„๏ธ Three Facts About Me โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ There are a few times that I mention this, but my mother provided new information for me and I wanted to do something that reflected my acknowledgement and appreciation for that information. I have this listed on all my social media and I have talked about my Native American heritage in a few posts. I always say very proudly that I am Apache and proud to be half Apache. However, the second week of December when I took a vacation, some of my family was visiting and I found out from my mother that I am also Cherokee on her side of the family. She had been tracing through our family tree and genetics (and still is) when she made this discovery. So I can now say that I am a proud Cherokee as well as Apache. And I say this all the time because I’m fully aware of my privilege compared to my family members who live on the reservations; even though I am very white passing I am very proud of my heritage, I am eternally grateful and blessed for the opportunities that I am given by living the life that I have, and (gosh I’m getting a bit emotional) I love my family and I’m extremely grateful that they remind me all the time how much they love me and that I don’t need to have darker skin for them to love me (because I agonize over this so much and so often), that they accept me just the way I am. This is a part of me that I’m very proud of, but it’s so bitter sweet at times as well. I like to keep my doors open and this is a part of me, a very soft and vulnerable part of me that agonize and love with an incredible force. And I really wanted to say this for the longest time and really honor the information my mother passed on to me.

โ„๏ธ I can officially announce this as well! If you have been following my Instagram then you may already know this, but in case you haven’t then let me officially announce the arrival of little Cresswell! Cresswell is my rescue kitten that my coworker has recently bestowed upon me. This has been in motion since December 2019 and this wasn’t a decision I made lightly or impulsively. I had to really analyze my home life, the dynamic with all my other fur babies, his age and the ages of my other pets, my spouse, and many other factors. I just recently agreed to bring this little guy home and for a while I wasn’t sure if I was going to get him (my coworker was pretty attached to him). However, things have all worked itself out and Cresswell has officially been brought home. As for right now, he is currently kept in my Spouse’s personal cave so he can build trust with us, not get overwhelmed by all the sights and smells, get his confidence, and take his time before we let him to his curiosity and explore our home. So you may see photos or videos of him surfacing on my social media in upcoming weeks!

โ„๏ธ That last one was more like an update, but I still think it counts. Anyway, this last fact about me is about my reading habits and that habit is I love listening to music while I read. While I do like ASMR, I find that ASMR relaxes me too much to the point of falling asleep doing whatever I’m doing. So as of recently I’ve been listening to a lot of instrumental mixes and most recently stumbled upon BLUME and Chillout Deer. Both of these creators have amazing mixes and they have been helping me focus on reading, taking notes, typing up articles, and just getting stuff done around the house. I will always love ASMR, but these two amazing channels have been killing it for me in 2020!

โ„๏ธ Questions by Emer โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ Do you think there is a place for one star reviews in the blogging community?

Well damn, jumping into the hard stuff right off the bat huh? I will always be honest and upfront about everything especially my own opinions. So I’m just going to say this now, if this offends anyone, I’m sorry.
Absolutely, one hundred percent, yes a million times. This is such a polarizing question and everyone and their mother has an opinion on this topic, including the creators, authors, or whoever is involved with the product. If we’re looking at just the book community, my answer still won’t change because a book can be just as bad as a product you buy in a store. The part that bothers me the most are those who feel the need (whether you’re someone in the community or you’re the creator of the product) to attack the people who give the one star reviews. I’m sorry, I must have missed the memo that said we’re all robots instead of human beings with souls, emotions, and feelings and that it’s a free for all to attack someone over their own opinions. Their own opinions. We all have opinions and we all perceive things differently. On that note, I also believe there is a way of writing a one star review without completely dragging the creator or being cruel to the creator to the point of emotionally or mentally hurting them. There is always a fine line to walk and it can be done. However, everyone involved in the outcome is responsible with their actions and the things they say.

โ„๏ธHow do you feel about audiobooks?

I don’t hate them, but I don’t love them. I’m a sentimental soul and I love the feel , the weight, the smell of a physical book in my hand. However, I’m slowly adapting and trying to branch out into the more virtual format of books just to save of space and to try new things.

โ„๏ธ Have you ever emotionally identified with a character or plot in a book that you felt the author was writing the words that are etched on your soul?

Funny you should ask. I just had a moment like this with The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum. This has also happened with a few other books as well. With these type of books I will either get emotional or I’ll get emotional. And there is a difference between the two. The first one is usually a book that pulls on my heart strings, reminds me of something I’ve experienced, etc… The second one is full blown factory melt down, sobbing with snot dipping everywhere, flapping my hands around, flailing or shaking the book relentlessly, usually animals are fleeing the scene and my spouse looking in bewilderment of what just happened. So yeah, it happens every once in a blue moon.

โ„๏ธ What was the last book (or film) that made you cry?

Oh look, The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum…AGAIN!

โ„๏ธ What ice cream flavour do you think best represents your personality? E.g. are you vanilla with sprinkles? Maybe youโ€™re a decadent salted caramel? Or maybe youโ€™re a scoop of rocky road?

Mint chocolate chip trio’politan. It’s not just my favorite ice cream, it’s something I felt personally attached to since I was a child, something that just represents my soul and so many wonderful memories.

โ„๏ธ The People I’m Tagging โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ Donna

โ„๏ธ Kayla

โ„๏ธ Lauren

โ„๏ธ Robin

โ„๏ธ Marie

โ„๏ธ Kat

โ„๏ธ Amanda

โ„๏ธ Blair

โ„๏ธ Sabreena

โ„๏ธ Emer

Itโ€™s okay if tags and awards arenโ€™t your thing. No one should feel obligated to do this tag unless they want to. Also, if you weren’t tagged then feel free to tag yourself!

โ„๏ธ My Questions for Those Tagged โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ As a reader, what is the biggest challenge you face when you’re reading and why?

โ„๏ธ What are your five favorite things to keep you out of a reading slump?

โ„๏ธ 2019 went by so fast, so what are your top five books you believe are five star predictions that you want to read before the end of 2020 that you didn’t get to read in 2019?!

โ„๏ธ You finally get the chance to design your dream reading nook! How would you design it and what would you include?

โ„๏ธ Your TBR has gotten so large that it’s out of control, what are some fun ways to help encourage you to read the books on your TBR or build your TBR for the month?

Okay, friends! Those are all the questions Emer has asked and once again, please check out Emer because she is a delight and I love her to pieces! As always, I’m incredibly grateful Emer thought about me to tag me in this for my second round of the Mystery Blogger Award. It means so, so much and it makes my heart so full. Anyway, until next time Chapterlings, may the end of January bring you many new additions to your shelves, I love you! ๐Ÿ’™

The Unique Blogger Award

Salutations friends! I just recently got nominated by my lovely friend Emer at A Little Haze Book Blog for the Unique Blogger Award! They are so kind, put out amazing content, and so thoughtful to even think of me every time these tags and awards pop up. I’m truly grateful and if you haven’t checked her blog out yet, make sure you pop on over and see her latest articles!

โ„๏ธ The Rules โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ Thank and share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you for The Unique Blogger Award

โ„๏ธ Answer their three questions

โ„๏ธ In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 blogs for the same award and ask them three new questions

โ„๏ธ Questions from Emer! โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ What is your favourite type of blog-post to write?

This is truly a tough question to answer. Hmm…I would have to say it’s one that I’ve been on the fence about lately. While I love and adore posting book hauls, I really love giving updates like a weekly update. I feel like there’s something really personal and almost like a door opening to a person’s heart with updates, and I truly love writing them or even reading others posting theirs. However, I have never actually posted a life or weekly update on this blog. While I do like being open with all of you, I do try to keep limits and boundaries when it comes to my personal life and social media.

โ„๏ธ Who is the person that has most inspired you in your life?

There are so many people and I can’t just pick one. There have been many people who have come and gone in my life who have taught me important life lessons, who have showed me kindness, who have really left an imprint on my soul, and have really inspired me to keep going forward. I truly believe you can’t have one person over another because the people who come and leave our lives inspire so much and teach us so much. To try to choose, well, I don’t know how anyone could do it without recognizing all the others.

โ„๏ธ Name one author (or twentyโ€ฆlol we are all book addicts here!) whose books you are always excited to read.

The lovely Kerri Maniscalco
The one and only Sarah J. Maas

Now for those tagged to receive this award!

โ„๏ธ Destiny

โ„๏ธ Kayla

โ„๏ธ Robin

โ„๏ธ Lauren

โ„๏ธ Donna

โ„๏ธ Nikki

โ„๏ธ Kat

โ„๏ธ Christine

Itโ€™s okay if tags and awards arenโ€™t your thing. No one should feel obligated to do this tag unless they want to.

โ„๏ธ My Three Questions for those Tagged โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ How did you come around to starting your blog?

โ„๏ธ What are three songs that describe you and your beautiful soul?

โ„๏ธ What are three books that made you emotional and never want to let go of?

Okay, Chapterlings! Those are all my answers to Emer’s questions! Once again, make sure you check out her blog, she is truly a sweet, caring friend. She deserves so much love! Also, if you weren’t tagged in this, but you want to participate, feel free to tag yourself because everyone is truly unique in their own way! Until next time, may January continue to be kind to you, I love you! ๐Ÿ’™

The Mystery Blogger Award

Salutations Chapterlings! I just recently got nominated by the lovely Lauren from Lala’s Book Reviews for The Mystery Blogger Award! This is the first time I’ve been nominated for this and I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am, how honored I feel, and how soft this has made me. However, if you haven’t checked out Lauren’s blog yet, go give her some love! She is a wonderfully kind soul who has some really great posts like Adoption & Foster Care in YA Books or Blogging Struggles as a New Blogger! She’s delightful and if I could give her all the awards then I would because she is a treasure!

Also, a huge thanks to Okoto fromย Okoto Enigmaโ€™s Blogย for creating this award to bring light to wonderful bloggers!

โ„๏ธ Three Facts About Me! โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ I wasn’t always a fantasy reader. Long before I discovered the fantasy genre, I read romance and contemporary all the time. I also spent a lot of time reading various fairy tales, folklore, mythology, and legends. I mentioned this in my post Books I’m Thankful For, The Twilight Saga was my first step into ya fantasy and that sort of took over my reading tastes, by a lot.

โ„๏ธ Aside from Owl City or Sleeping At Last, Skrux is the only other band that I own every album of. Owl City is a bit of nostalgia for me, where Sleeping At Last hits close to home with the lyrics of many of their songs. However, I don’t often talk about it, but I use Skrux’s music for everything. Whether I’m reading, cleaning, relaxing in the bath or taking a hot shower to wash the day off, even when I do my Instagram stories I’m probably using Skrux for the music playing, they just have a way of soothing my soul and giving me goosebumps. I can’t imagine a day without Skrux in it.

โ„๏ธ Most people wouldn’t know it unless they actually looked really hard or read my About Me page, but I’m big on gaming and LARPing. I don’t talk about it often, but I feel like it’s time that I give credit where it’s due. I love gaming, I play on all kinds of platforms (although I’m not that big a fan of Twitch, sorry not sorry), and LARPing…well I’ve been doing that since I was thirteen. I think along with the Twilight Saga, playing so many fictional games and finding so many others who shared a mutual love really helped my creativity bloom and grow. As a kid my creativity was always there, but it never really took off until a little bit after I had started reading Harry Potter and just at the beginning of starting D&D and LARPing. In a way, my gaming helped mold me into the fantasy lover that I am and it really helped me discover a deep love for graphic novels and comics.

โ„๏ธ What is your favorite dessert? โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ What is the biggest thing that youโ€™ve done this year? โ„๏ธ

That’s a really hard question. I’ve accomplished so many goals this year and I’m incredibly proud of all of them. I have a lot of amazing things coming to this blog and for myself as a book reviewer, but I also have to recognize that I got the promotion and realized my self-worth. So I’ve vaguely have hinted that things at my job have been stressful and I want to be more clear and open the doors up for all of you a little more. Back at in the middle of September I got a promotion at my job and not long after that it was the first time that I truly felt like I was being disrespected terribly and my worth as an employee meant absolutely nothing. It was at a point where I kind of hit a “rock bottom” in a way. My mental health and physical health have been in a very rapid decline since then and it has taken a great deal to climb out of that hole to acknowledge that I’m not doing as okay as I would like at my job. A lot of the parts where I have mentioned that I have been sick or fighting off health issues it was due to all the stress from my job. And even though I wanted that promotion more than anything, sacrificing my mental and physical health for a job that doesn’t value me isn’t something I want for myself. So these past few months I have been rediscovering my self-worth and value and I have finally established a plan that I’ll be putting into action in the new year. I think that was the biggest accomplishment I have achieved this year and I’m a firm believer that there’s a fine line between a job that challenges you and gives you a few stressors to a job that devalues you and does everything to beat you down. And sometimes you have to do what’s right by you.

โ„๏ธ Did you complete your Goodreads (or personal) challenge? โ„๏ธ

Hehe I actually did! I think I completed it during the summer. It took me completely by surprise, but it might have been due to the fact that I started approaching the the GoodReads challenge a little bit differently compared to most readers do. I am very much a mood reader and last year I think my goal was 75 books, I was trying to do quarters, but after completing last year’s challenge I realized something. I realized I was putting too much pressure and unnecessary stress on myself that I didn’t need to be doing. Setting my goal lower this year; I felt more encourage to read, less pressured and stressed to complete my goal, and it felt like I wasn’t holding a breath anymore. I’m hoping that I’ll be finishing this year at 98 books read to my goal of 20, but my current status of the time this article goes up, I have read 96 books of my 20 books read goal! And I’m proud of that!

โ„๏ธ What is your favorite book to gift to somebody? โ„๏ธ

You might think this is silly, but I love gifting the graphic novel Fables to others! I adore this series with every fiber in my soul! There are a lot of trigger and content warnings (for literally everything you can think of) so if you do decide to pick it up then make sure you’re in the right head space. But if you do, it’s a modern retelling on all the fair tales having to leave their fantasy worlds due to a war and the challenges they face in the real world. It’s really good! I highly recommend especially if you’re in need of a quick read!

โ„๏ธ What is your favorite drink for the holidays? โ„๏ธ

And those are all the questions by Lauren! I can’t thank her enough again for nominating me for this!

โ„๏ธThe Questions! โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ What was the hardest thing you overcame this year?

โ„๏ธ What is your favorite holiday tradition?

โ„๏ธ What five books would you like to receive before the year is over?

โ„๏ธ If you could make one wish right now, what wish would you make and why?

โ„๏ธ Tell me two books you’re anticipating for the first half of 2020!

โ„๏ธThe Nominations! โ„๏ธ

โ„๏ธ Donna

โ„๏ธ Robin

โ„๏ธ Kat

โ„๏ธ Emer

โ„๏ธ Bee

โ„๏ธ Diana

โ„๏ธ Destiny

โ„๏ธ Krystnya

โ„๏ธ Nikki

Itโ€™s okay if tags and awards arenโ€™t your thing. No one should feel obligated to do this unless they want to.

Okay, Chapterlings! That wraps everything up for this article! Once again, I truly can’t express how grateful and honored I feel when I’m tagged in these. I can’t express how thankful for all of you who read my content and who have been here for every single post since I started this blog. I’m truly grateful and really blessed that you all see me, see my posts, and just think of me for things like these awards and tags. It just makes my heart really soft and sappy, I love you all a whole lot! But I think I got a little off track there. Anyway, the holiday season is coming up and I just wanted to remind you all to stay safe and be kind to one another! Until next time, may the holidays be extra good to you, I love you!

The Blogger Recognition Award

I can’t believe I’m so blessed to be tagged for the blogger recognition award by the amazing and lovely Emer at The Little Haze Book Blog! They are truly wonderful and I’m so grateful, so honored, and really soft about this whole thing. They’re too kind and there aren’t enough words to express my feelings. If you get the chance, definitely check out Emer’s blog! She has amazing content and she’s such a sweet person!

๐ŸŽƒ The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger/s who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  2. Write a post to show your award.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  5. Select up to 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  6. Comment (or pingback) on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

๐ŸŽƒ How did Chapter Malliumpkin come to be

I briefly talk about this in my ‘About Me‘ section on my blog, but I’ll go into greater detail here. I’m probably going to get emotional and a bit sappy so I hope you’re ready for this.

I have always been a reader and a writer, ever since I was a kid. As a kid I had a lot of health problems and even now that I’m older, I still have a lot of medical struggles. With those struggles, I reached a point in my life where I felt like I was on repeat all the time. Around this time, a lot of difficult things were happening in my life and I remember like it was yesterday. It was a Wednesday, I had finished all my doctor appointments and I was at my LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) meetup for our next big chapter of our adventure. I had just finished putting on uniform for my character I play as (Malliumpkin or Mally-m-kin) when I got a phone call. That phone call changed a lot of things. After that day, there were a lot of events that happened over that following two weeks that caused me to take a step back and look at my life.

A few of my most trusted, most loyal friends actually pushed me into blogging about the books I read and they really helped me make the commitment to starting my bookstgram. I have been in the book community since 2014, but I was never really in it the way I am now. I had always wanted to start my book blog, but it wasn’t until I had been on bookstgram for a long enough time that I wanted to really invest my love and my time into my hobby of reading. And as for the name, well… Malliumpkin is not only the character name I go as for LARPing, but it’s my gaming tag, it’s a nickname that’s very personal and was given to me by someone very special and whom I value very highly in my life. The ‘chapter’ part was something that was added on at a later time when a lot of my LARPing buddies caught me reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban before one of our meetups started. So the name ‘Chapter Malliumpkin’ is something that was born from the love of many incredible, talented, and wonderful people who I’m immensely grateful to have in my life and very blessed that they put up with all my shenanigans.

Reading had always felt like some sacred, something kind of intimate throughout my life, and I never knew there were so many people out there who were interested in what I had to say about books or liked similar books. After really getting involved in the book community, I met so many incredibly kind, warm-hearted friends that really pushed me forward to making this blog and telling me to just go for it. Having that kind of support, it was like coming up for a breath of fresh air. I have never had that kind support, love, and so many people in my corner telling me to stop holding back (outside of my spouse, of course). And so here we are. On this blog that came to be out of inspiration, friendship, support, passion, and immense love.

๐ŸŽƒ My Advice

If you were like me, holding back from doing something you really wanted to do then let go and just do it. There are so many of us who will support you and want to talk with you about your thoughts, opinions, and you can make some of the strongest friendships in this community. I never would have started my blog if I never found the courage and if I never knew so many people supported me, wanting me to be happy. It truly has been an incredible journey and life it too short to be doing anything but the things you want to do.

My second piece of advice would be to just be yourself. You don’t have to try so hard to impress everyone or sacrifice your self-care for the sake of making sure you’re posting constantly. Not to mention, readers can tell when you’re forcing yourself to write about something you’re not that interested in. When you’re passionate about something, the writing will come naturally and your true emotions will always shine through in the end.

Getting involved is going to be your biggest challenge, but it’s the most rewarding. I’m the type of person who gets really bad anxiety and I stressed over saying the right thing. I blame the perfectionist side for that. But commenting, chatting, or even sending a simple message saying, “Hey! That sounds really amazing! Can you tell me more about it?” are some great ways of building friendships, establishing connections with others who like the same things that you do. And if you don’t connect right way, that’s okay. Try again and keep being social. In fact, if you’re here on this blog post, right now, reading it then comment something and let’s start a conversations! Let’s build a new bridge of friendship right here, right now!

And my final tip to you, dear reader, is to branch out and participate in something you normally wouldn’t do on your blog. Tags and memes are a great way to meet new people, interact with blogs you’ve never seen before, and overall just have fun. I worry, stress, and want things to be so perfect that I forget to have a little fun every now and again. You can still be serious and have fun. It’s also a great way to put out interesting content and help motivate you for regular blogging.
