Monthly TBR

December 2021 TBR

Honestly, I must have lost a few marbles, not going to lie. I haven’t done a tbr since September and well… that didn’t go so well. Maybe there’s a part of me that really misses doing tbrs piles or maybe I just miss telling you all what I’m hoping to read, hoping to consume. And if I’m being honest, 2021 has been a weird, stressful year especially when it comes to attempting to read. Look, there’s just been a lot of things that have prevented me from picking up books or even thinking about writing articles. But I digress!

It’s not a big tbr, no it’s far from that. With my current situation of feeling under the weather and then on top of that the stress of packing, house renovations, and the holidays looming around the corner, I didn’t want this to be a very large list. You know the ones, those end of the year tbr crunching kind of piles to squeeze in as many books as possible before the year is over? Yeah, those kind of tbr piles. I didn’t want this to be that. So, I put together a kind of casual reading list for this month and if I don’t read everything, then I think that’s okay!

For the Wolf (The Wilderwood, #1) by Hannah Whitten
June 1st 2021 by Orbit
Buddy read with Destiny at Howling Libraries 💜

As the only Second Daughter born in centuries, Red has one purpose-to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wood in the hope he’ll return the world’s captured gods. Red is almost relieved to go. Plagued by a dangerous power she can’t control, at least she knows that in the Wilderwood, she can’t hurt those she loves. Again. But the legends lie. The Wolf is a man, not a monster. Her magic is a calling, not a curse. And if she doesn’t learn how to use it, the monsters the gods have become will swallow the Wilderwood-and her world-whole.

But then Dr. Christie Harmon moves to Cheyenne, Wyoming and has Luke wanting all kinds of things he shouldn’t want from the gorgeous pediatrician. Things like long nights, sweet mornings, and whispered promises. Soon, Luke finds himself only wanting Christie under his Christmas tree this year. She’s seen how cruel love can be, and she’s not about to sacrifice her self-respect for a relationship. A fallen Empire. A forbidden royal romance. An ancient treaty with the Fae. In a world tainted by greed and rebellion, death prowls the shadows of the once glorious Sun Empire, waiting to devour those who dare fight back. Corvus, heir to the most powerful House, is a threat to the Emperor, despite being the dearest friend of Crown Princess Saphyr. Okay friends, that’s about all the books for this tbr. As I said, not a very big list of books to read for this month. However, I’m excited to read these and tell you my thoughts on them. What books do you plan on reading for the month of December? Do you have any must reads immediately? Tell me your thoughts in the comments! Until next time; stay cozy and stay bookish! I love you! 💚

Monthly TBR

December 2020 TBR

Greetings lovelies! Can you believe that we’re already in December? 2020 went by so fast and I think we can all say that we’re ready for this year to be over. But this month I really want to strive to keep my reading light and have plenty of room to breathe. Usually this time of year I’m travelling or with family and I won’t lie, I very deeply miss them. So, my reading has been a bit… more mood reading than sticking to a tbr as of lately. And truthfully, I wasn’t sure if I was going to even make a tbr for December, but I’m kind of glad I did. I really enjoy making tbr piles and posts. But here are the five books I plan on reading this month because I miss my family so, so much and I’m healing from a lot of painful things this year, and I really wanted my reading to reflect that part of me.

P.S. There’s also two readathons happening this time of year as well. There’s the Tistheseasonathon & Smutathon happening! I haven’t decided if I want to try and participate, but I wanted to make sure you all knew these were taking place this month. And I can’t wait to see all the tbrs for these readathons!

ARC was provided by NetGalley and Random House Children’s in exchange for an honest review.

I have been really enjoying this anthology so far. I wish I could have finished this in November, but these last two months are a bit of a stretch for my reading. However, I think many readers are going to fall in love with this book because there’s so many wonderful stories being told, by some very well-loved authors!

Hungry Hearts: 13 Tales of Food & Love by Elsie Chapman
June 18th, 2019 by Simon Pulse
Dragons & Tea December Pick 🐉

I have a confession… I started this anthology and never finished it! Which is really sad because I was loving this book so darn much! However, I’m finally making time to finish this book. Even if this wasn’t a pick for the Dragons & Tea Book Club, I would still try to finish this book before 2020 ended. Plus, I was really loving this book and with missing my family so badly right now, I think this is a good book to fill my heart with some warmth.

Crown of Bones (Crown of Bones #1) by A. K. Wilder
Pub. Date: January 5th, 2021 by Entangled: Teen
ARC was provided by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review!

The publishing date for this book is coming up fast and with a synopsis that has me intrigued, I really want to read this for December. Plus, the whole book gives off wintery vibes and I’m here for it!

I Must Belong Somewhere: Poetry and Prose by Dawn Lanuza
Pub. Date: January 5th, 2021 by Andrews McMeel Publishing
ARC was provided by NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to read this in November, but it just wasn’t in the cards for me to read it that month. However, with the publication date rapidly approaching, I really want to get this book read and have a review posted before the end of 2020. Plus, I think this is a book I really need to read right now.

When Dogs Heal: Powerful Stories of People Living with HIV and the Dogs That Saved Them by Jesse Freidin
Pub. Date: March 2nd, 2021 by Zest Books
ARC was provided by NetGalley and Zest Books in exchange for an honest review.

I feel like I don’t talk about this part of my life a lot and I feel like I should because it’s such a huge part of my life, a huge part of me, but I’ve spent and do spend a lot of time working with animals. I spent a long time working with dogs and their behavior, and my own corgi is a certified esa (a.k.a emotional support animal). So, I’m really excited to read this arc and I’m even more excited to open up a little about such a huge part of my life to all of you. And hopefully in the future, you might just see a bunch of books revolving around or involving animals! On that note, I’m really excited to read this book! I’m a firm believer animals are healers, some special kind of magic we don’t deserve, and I’m always looking to read other’s experiences with animals.

Okay, book dragons! I think those cover all the books I really want to make sure I read this month. Honestly, I have a few other books I’d love to read. From arcs all the way to some arcs that don’t come out till Spring 2021. However, I’m really happy with how this tbr turned out and I’m so excited to read these books. Truly, I’m keeping my fingers crossed these all turn out to be five stars! I hope you all have an amazing month of reading, a wonderful holiday season, and that you continue to stay safe, and stay healthy! I love you! 💙

Monthly TBR

December 2019 TBR

Salutations friends! We have finally landed in the month of December! I’m still in awe that we’re at the end of the year already. Where did the time go?! I guess time really does go by fast when you’re reading a good book. Anyway, we’re in December and that means a whole new TBR has come at last. Now, picking this TBR was not so easy and I think my brain ending up subconsciously picking books that had shades of blue in them. I did mention this before, but I’ll say it again… This is the time of year where I get really busy and very family and home-bound focused. What that means is even though I have this wonderful and amazing TBR, it doesn’t mean I’m going to read all these books and there’s a very high chance that I will pick up books more centered around going home, friends and family, or books about finding family. It’s just my sentimental and homesick nature around this time of year. But I will do my absolute best to stick to my TBR because there’s some really great books that I’ve been itching to read!

On that note and before we jump into the books, you’ve probably noticed a new change to the theme. I briefly showed a sneak peek of this on my Instagram stories and today in the big winter theme reveal! If you’ve been here awhile then you probably know this, but I’m very sentimental about my spouse. So I will have them help me out with coming up with new designs and I just get very soft that they’ve been supporting me through this whole blogging journey. The new design and theme for winter is all thanks to them! And I’m so thankful and grateful for their help, for them wanting to support this blogging journey, and for them being them! ❤️ Okay, now that I got all sappy and mushy, on to the books and a very special announcement!
