Salutations friends! I know I haven’t been posting many reviews or reading a lot of major new releases lately. However, I wanted to share some of the amazing webcomics I’ve been obsessed with lately! These are just a few of the webcomics I’ve been falling in love with and no where near the actual number of webcomics I’ve fallen head-over-heels for. I hope you enjoy this quick little article and give these webcomics a chance!
Greetings readers! I hope you all have been doing well, staying healthy, and enjoying the little things! I’m so excited because I’m finally typing up an article I have been dying to create and share with all of you. While in the book community many readers know me for fantasy reading and books that don’t often get the attention they deserve, things are a bit different outside of the book community. In my personal life especially among my friends, I’m known for the manga, graphic novels/comics, and zoology books I tend to pick up.
Often, I don’t share the personal side of myself too much. Manga, I’ve been more open about that since coming into the book community, but the others… well I tend to keep that under lock and key. So, I wanted to be more unapologetically myself around all of you and in this community. So I thought to myself, what better way to do that than share all the web comics I’ve been falling in love with?! And today is the day! So I hope you all enjoy and check these web comics out, support the creators, and maybe fall in love with them too!
I think that covers all the web comics I’ve been reading a lot recently! I know I didn’t list the synopsis for all of them, but I want that to encourage you to go check out these web comics for yourself and decide if you want to read them or not. I hope you enjoyed this article, as well! I had a lot of fun putting this together and I’m so happy to finally be sharing it with all of you. Do you have a favorite web comic? Please, oh please let me know! I love discovering new web comics! Until next time, I hope your month is filled with love and good reading! I love you! 💙
Content/Trigger Warnings: Cheating, graphic violence, abuse, death, child abuse, trauma/PTSD, allusions to torture, loss of a parent, terminal illness (cancer), and plenty more!
Friends, I loved this! When I say I caught up on all the episodes in two days, I’m not kidding! This was so, so good and I was hooked immediately. I love anything that has the mafia within it. It’s one of my favorite elements in romance novels I don’t talk about that often, but I feel like I should (and stop feeling embarrassed by what I like). This is an on-going webcomic as of right now. New episodes get posted on WebToons every Saturday, which you can read for free HERE.
Poppy is just your every day book editor, doing the best that she can and living her life . Until one day she stumbles upon her boyfriend cheating which leads to a series of unfortunate events. She crashes in the country side, makes an unnerving discovery, and then on top of everything else, a young man returns her lost research paper to her… after her takes an embarrassing photo of her. Now without even trying, it seems like her life it starting to become more and more entangled with this mysterious man who genuinely can’t seem to stay away from her.
Let me just say that this book doesn’t shy away from events that occur within the Mafia. There are some scenes that are a big graphic, a bit concerning, and I’m not going to lie, you should take care of your mental health with some of the section because there’s a lot to unpack. With all of that being said, it’s fantastic. It builds the background of our love interest and the Mafia bodyguard, Tora, really well. It also helps paint a better picture of why Tora acts the way he does, says some of the things he says, and how he’s kind of been this protector of certain people within the Mafia from having to feel any wrath or take an punishments.
I also really love Poppy! She was a very pleasant surprise. In the beginning I thought she seemed very innocent and naive, but she’s a firecracker and I love her for it. She’s so intelligent and she’s so compassionate about those in her life or those who cross her path in life. And when she starts to really interact with Tora, her personality flourishes in so many ways. We see a side of her we don’t see with the other people she interacts with throughout the book. I also love how Poppy felt so realistic. There’s times throughout this book where she’d be dressed down and running late or she’d get so anxious about something and then be ready for whatever event, an hour early. Poppy is such a relatable character and I think many readers will enjoy her as the main protagonist of this story.
And can I take a moment to gush about the art work?! The artwork is absolutely stunning! I’m in love with how captivating each setting is. Even in the more darker, ominous scenes, the artwork sets the tone so wonderfully and I loved every second of it. My favorite was the intimate scenes between Poppy and Tora, though. The way the author made each moment soft, fluffy, and more intimate than what the comic shows… *chef’s kiss* I loved it so, so much.
Overall, I’m really loving this webcomic. I’m surprised I didn’t know about it sooner because I’m on WebToons every morning during the weekend. It’s like my weekend newspaper except it’s webcomics. Now I get to add this fantastic comic to the list of ones I read over the weekend and I’m just so excited for the next episode to be released. I don’t think I can recommend this enough. I definitely encourage you to give this webcomic a chance especially if you’re looking for fast paced, quick reads. And seriously, the artwork and story line is fantastic!

“Even if by some miracle, she did consider me… The Underworld is no place for a Goddess like her.”
Readers, it’s high time I told you about my favorite webcomic…ever! I have been reading Lore Olympus for an extremely long time. I’m talking about before this webcomic made it onto Webtoons. I’m talking back when it first appeared on Tumblr. And I think it’s high time I talk about my love and passion for this webcomic again! I love and adore this webcomic with my whole soul, my whole being, and I can’t stop loving this series. It’s just a beautiful and captivating series.
If you haven’t heard of Lore Olympus by now, just know that you can read this webcomic for free here! It’s also getting produced into a television series and just know, that I’m eagerly anticipating more news on when this will be happening! The excitement and anticipation is real!
On a different note, this web series is a modern retelling of Greek mythology, more specifically the mythology around The Taking Persephone, which Persephone and Hades are the main focus of this graphic novel series. Along the way you will see many other gods, goddesses, and titans throughout mythology that get woven into the story along the way. For example, the story of Eros and Psyche is one of the many stories that get intertwined with the story of Persephone and Hades. It’s all beautifully woven together from flashbacks and memories to present time.
I really love how all the side gods and goddesses come into play with this graphic novel especially with the development of Hades and Persephone. They both have a wide variety of interactions with so many of the titans, the goddesses, and gods. We get to see how each one interacted with our two main characters of this web series. The best part is the interactions feel so humanized and the facial expressions really make them seem like every day mortals. I’m a big fan of facial expressions and seeing so much variety from curious to devastation really cemented how unique each and every character truly is with their experiences.
One of my most favorite aspects of this graphic novel series is the serious topics that it rises. As I mentioned above, there are a lot of content and trigger warnings for this web series and the way each topic is handled is with a lot of care, but accurate representation of what those situations can and are like. Even more so, Rachel has a way of using her color to really set the mood and put emphasis of the scene. Rachel also adds trigger and content warnings for her more heavy and serious issues. And you all know how I love and support authors who take the time to address that heavy content is coming! I just really appreciate the amount of time, effort, care, and emphasis Rachel used for this content. And I say this a lot, but I truly do wish authors took more time and care to address heavier content and trigger warnings for readers. This is just one of many things I love about this series!
Another thing I really love about this series is the artwork! I really loved and enjoyed watching Rachel develop and grow her color scheme as well as the manifestation between the lighter and darker tones. It has been a breathtaking experience and it’s one of those things that has really made me love this series on a deep level. The colors are so eye pleasing and just captivating. I’m attracted to the use of shades of a wide variety and Lore Olympus delivers on so many levels.
And if I still haven’t sold you on everything that goes on with this webcomic then let me say this, the story line and plot is just too good to ignore. I love mythology and I can openly say, anyone who isn’t overly familiar with Greek mythology will still be able to enjoy this series. I know a lot of readers stress about whether or not they need to have a strong knowledge of Greek mythology to be able to understand and enjoy this series and I truly believe anyone can read this webcomic. I have recommended this series to so many people, friends and family who aren’t even into mythology, and they enjoy it so much. Every Saturday and Sunday, I receive texts and messages from them saying, “It’s Lore Olympus Day!” And the conversations you can have with fellow readers of this comic just reaches above and beyond. Out of all the webcomics I read, I never run out of things to say about this series. This is one of very few webcomics that I still have on going conversations about and still have immense excitement about especially as it get’s closer to the drop of a new episode.
“Just like me. The same as me.”
Overall, I just really love this series with my whole heart and soul. This is one series that I feel deep within my soul and ache for every weekend. I’m obsessed with the stunning artwork and the tensity in the story line. If you’ve been sitting on whether or not you should start this graphic novel, then let this be the voice that convinces you to jump on board. These are characters you will fall in love with and Rachel is just an absolute lovely soul. I will support her and her work until the end of time because I love what she’s doing, I love the world she’s building, and the world seems a little brighter with Lore Olympus in it!
